Atlas of Minimally Invasive Surgery (Two Volume Set)

Atlas Vol 1 Atlas Vol 2

Volume 1 (2009)

Volume 2 (2013)

Product Description

Prior to publication of the Atlas of Minimally Invasive Surgery in 2009, the typical operative atlas was a standard book with illustrations and accompanying text. The Atlas of Minimally Invasive Surgery, however, was the first comprehensive operative atlas which included instructional text and video on all covered procedures. This first-of-its-kind reference demonstrated how to perform commonly utilized laparoscopic procedures, using a combination of a large illustrated color textbook and narrated DVD video.

Volume 1 of this Atlas (2009) contains nearly 30 videos on DVD—each 10-20 minutes long, with voice-over narration, and describing the key steps for minimally invasive abdominal procedures. In addition to the procedures on DVD video, a full-color standard operative atlas is included—illustrated with nearly 400 photos and line drawings. The 2009 Atlas addresses the key portions of each surgical procedure, providing complete details on the technical considerations of each operation (see Volume 1 Table of Contents for a list of covered operations).

With over 40 contributors, and edited by Drs. Constantine T. Frantzides and Mark A. Carlson, the Atlas of Minimally Invasive Surgery represented an advance in the area of operative atlases. There have been official versions of Volume 1 in six languages (English, Spanish, Portugese, Polish, Chinese, and Indian).

The Video Atlas of Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery, Volume 2 of this set, was published in 2013, and has over 100 contributors. Volume 2 contains all-new chapters on advanced procedures (more than 40) not covered in Volume 1 (see Volume 2 Table of Contents for a list of covered operations). Similar to Volume 1, the Video Atlas of Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery comes with narrated video of each procedure, contained in DVDs that are included in a sleeve inside the book's cover. The videos also are available online through Elsevier's Clinical Key.
